About the Journal
The proceeding carries the theme Resilient Architecture. In an era of increasing environmental uncertainties, resilient architecture has become a vital approach to designing buildings that can endure and adapt to challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, and resource scarcity. This concept integrates sustainable design principles, advanced materials, and innovative construction techniques to enhance the durability, flexibility, and efficiency of the built environment. By emphasizing adaptability, energy efficiency, and disaster preparedness, resilient architecture not only extends the lifespan of structures but also strengthens community well-being.
The proceeding compile research papers whose contributions cover four topics, which are:
- Human Well-being and Local Wisdom in Resilient Architecture
- Energy Efficiency and Smart Technologies in Resilient Architecture
- Sustainable Materials and Construction for Resilient Architecture
- Urban Planning and Design for Resilient Cities
The International Conference on Empathic Architecture (ICEA) has been organized annually by the Department of Architecture, Petra Christian University, Indonesia, serving as a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and students to exchange ideas and discuss emerging issues in architecture and the built environment through an empathic perspective.
Since its inception, the conference has been successfully conducted for 6 (six) consecutive years, fostering scholarly dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration among participants from diverse backgrounds. Throughout the first 5 editions of the conference, presented papers were disseminated exclusively through conference presentations and discussions, and no official conference proceedings were published.
The year 2025 marks a significant milestone in the development of ICEA. On its 6 edition, the conference officially launched the Proceedings International Conference on Empathic Architecture, providing a dedicated publication platform for selected papers presented during the conference. This inaugural proceedings publication also marks the first time the conference has obtained an official ISSN, establishing a formal and sustainable channel for the dissemination, visibility, and archiving of scholarly contributions generated through the conference.
Through this proceedings publication, ICEA strengthens its commitment to advancing architectural knowledge and promoting high-quality research by making selected conference papers accessible to a wider academic and professional audience. The publication of the proceedings represents an important step toward enhancing the conference’s academic impact and ensuring the long-term accessibility of the valuable insights shared by its contributors.
